Good Morning {{first_name}}
Yesterday after the gym, I picked up Frequently Happy by David Larbi - a book full of poems and journal prompts about noticing the small moments that make life lighter.
One poem really stood out to me:
The Light Is Around the Corner
Someone said to me today I'm in a really dark place
I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel And every day is hard to take' My heart sank
Because their words were a feeling I've had to fight
through
To be honest with you and myself? I still do I've found that light isn't at the end of the tunnel It's around the corner
There's no signal or warning
It happens
It feels sudden
It feels fast
Like it was all a matter of chance But I'll tell you now, that's not true It was all you
Holding on is sometimes the only thing we can do
One step, then the next Too focused on our feet
To see what's behind or ahead
And then you're there
It was you
Continuing got you through
Keep going
I loved this poem because it reminded me of my own experiences with posting content. Sometimes I share a video or a design I’m proud of and… nothing. No views, no engagement. It’s frustrating.
Then a few days later, it starts to get noticed. Slowly, quietly, the “light” shows up just around the corner.
It’s like waiting for water to boil. You turn on the stove, and at first, nothing seems to happen. You stare at the pot, wondering if it’s even working. Minutes go by, and still nothing. But then, slowly, tiny bubbles start forming at the bottom. A little steam rises. And before you know it, the water is boiling, ready to do its job.
This poem reminded me that patience and persistence really do matter. Even when it feels like your effort is invisible, keeping at it is what gets you through.
Keep going,
Yousaf
