I came across The Millionaire Fastlane on TikTok.
A guy called Callum Carver 22 years old, running The Kaizen Newsletter was talking about how this one book changed the way he looks at business.
I don’t just buy every book I see online, but something about the way he explained it made sense.
So I went on Amazon, read a few reviews, and bought it.
It came. I read it. And here’s what I actually think.
From the title, you’d think it’s all about making money quick.
But when you read it, you realise it’s actually the opposite.
It’s about building a business that works for you not just doing more work for the sake of working.
It’s about creating value, solving real problems, and using systems to escape the “Slowlane” that path where you work 9–5, save for 40 years, and hope one day you can finally enjoy life.
Get a job
Save every month
Rely on pensions, hope for promotions, and accept life as it is
But MJ DeMarco (the author) breaks that down and shows how that mindset traps you.
The Fastlane isn’t about speed it’s about control.
Control over your time, income, and how you earn it.
There’s a story in the book about two Egyptian brothers.
The Pharaoh offers them both wealth if they can each build a pyramid for him.
The first brother gets started straight away laying bricks by hand, working every day, proud of his progress.
The second brother doesn’t lay a single brick. Instead, he spends his time building a machine to do it for him.
Months go by. The first brother sees the empty land and laughs at him.
But when the machine’s ready, the second brother builds his pyramid in no time while the first is still laying bricks.
In the end, the first brother collapses from exhaustion before even finishing.
The second brother wins not because he worked harder, but because he worked smarter.
That’s the whole point of this book.
This isn’t some dreamer’s book.
It’s real, practical, and it forces you to look at the way you’re building your life.
I’d say if you’re trying to build something of your own and not just follow the same path everyone’s on give it a read.
Next week, I’ll be reviewing another book I’ve just finished.
